Worksheet 3

Equipment Needed

Two players, PIXIE, a 6 by 6 grid, a colour dice, a shapes dice and a pack of cards. The grid must have a different coloured shape in each cell.

Rules

1) Roll both dice and place PIXIE on the grid over that colour and shape.

2) Give each player 17 cards or pieces of paper. One player has the colours dice, the other has the shapes dice. Shapes and colours players take the following steps in turn:-

3) The shapes player rolls the shapes dice and programs PIXIE to go to a cell with that shape.

4) If PIXIE ends up on a square of the correct shape, the shapes player may place a card on the cell that it started from.

5) If PIXIE goes over a card, the shapes player must pick that card up.

6) If there is no empty cell of the shape rolled, or PIXIE cannot get to a cell of the shape without going over a card, the shapes player must miss a turn.

7) The colours player rolls the colour dice and programs PIXIE to go to a cell with that colour.

8) If PIXIE ends up on a cell of the correct colour, the colours player may place a card on the cell that it started from.

9) If PIXIE goes over a card, the colours player must pick that card up.

10) If there is no empty cell of the colour rolled, or PIXIE cannot get to a cell of the colour, the colours player must miss a turn.

11) The winner is the one who gets rid of all their cards first. If PIXIE gets trapped and cannot move, the winner is the one with fewest cards.
